There's
more, this time in Hood River: If I haven't stimulated your taste
buds by now, how about giving me another chance?
This
time take a scenic drive up the Columbia River Gorge to the North
Oak Brasserie at 113 Third St. in Hood River, where owners Mike
and Shawna Caldwell practice thier magic. Mike is a forner winemaker
and author who now offers his own extensive wine list along with
classic Italian dishes.
In
close quarters in the cellar of one the community's core-area
older buildings, the Caldwell's dish out roasted garlic and brie
soup, lasagna, gorgonzola gnocchi and butternut squash ravioli
that would do credit to any Italian table. Warm colors and extra-friendly
service make this a perfect destination, especially on one of
our dreary wet evenings.
